May 26 is the country`s Independence Day. "Faith empowers us, love unites us" is this year`s main slogan, dedicated to the 1,700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion.

After the conclusion of the day’s main official event, which was held on Freedom Square, the Prime Minister, along with members of the Cabinet of Ministers, arrived in Gori, where the Ministry of Internal Affairs is hosting the events.

A "Smart City" has been set up on Gori’s central square and the area surrounding the Sakrebulo [City Council], where special vehicles, equipment, and gear of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Defense Forces are on display.

Festive events are taking place across the entire country, both in the capital and in 20 other cities.
