Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Ascension. The festive divine service at the Saburtalo Ascension Church was conducted by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Shio III. The feast is celebrated on the fortieth day after Easter.

“We see that the Lord is with us today as well. He fulfills His promise through His grace, through His word. If some of us do not notice or feel His presence, it means that there is some reason within us, either we do not love Him enough, or we do not think about Him.

Therefore, we should reflect on what this reason is within me. When you ask the Lord about this, He will definitely make us see what we have to correct so that we can feel the Lord’s closeness and His love more and more. This great event inspires us that, as the Apostle Paul teaches us, our citizenship must be heavenly, our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also await our Savior Jesus Christ, and that we ought to think of things above, and not of things on earth”, - noted Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III during his sermon after the conclusion of the festive service.
