Heavy rainfall in May and the rise in air temperature create ideal conditions for the spread of primary and secondary infections of grapevine downy mildew in the viticulture zones of Georgia.

For the purpose of disease prevention and effective management, the National Food Agency advises farmers to carry out comprehensive measures in a timely manner.

During frequent rains, to avoid potential crop losses, the use of contact pesticides alone is not effective, because under heavy rainfall conditions contact pesticides are completely washed away and the treatment loses its effect. During a high infectious background and frequent rains, the interval between systemic pesticides should not exceed 10-12 days (instead of the standard 14 days). In the case of contact pesticides, the interval is reduced to 7 days.

Multiple use of a systemic pesticide from the same group during the season increases the risk of resistance to the pesticide and reduces the effect of its action. Before using any fungicide, carefully read the product label and instructions. Strictly observe the dosage and safety rules.
