Prime Minister of Georgia attends the civil funeral service for persons Ttransferred from Abkhazia who had been missing

Prime Minister of Georgia together with members of the Government, attended the civil funeral service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral for individuals transferred from the occupied region of Abkhazia who had gone missing during the armed conflicts of the 1990s.

Irakli Kobakhidze paid tribute to the memory of the deceased and expressed condolences to their families.

Through the cooperation of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the International Committee of the Red Cross, within the framework of the coordination mechanism involving Georgian and Abkhaz participants, it was possible this time to identify and return to their families 11 persons who had previously been missing. Among them are 2 military personnel and 9 civilians.

According to the decisions of their families, the identified individuals will be buried in ancestral cemeteries across different regions of Georgia.
