Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met the newly-appointed Director of the Legal Aid Service of Georgia, Otar Chakhunashvili.

The Head of Government of Georgia congratulated the new head of the Service on his appointment and wished him success in his new role.

Otar Chakhunashvili provided the Prime Minister of Georgia with detailed information about the main areas of activity and priorities of the Service.

The Legal Aid Service being a Legal Entity of Public Law (LEPL) ensures access to pro bono legal assistance for citizens.

Otar Chakhunashvili was appointed Director of the Service on May 1 by an Executive Order of the Prime Minister of Georgia. He has many years of experience working in the public sector. At various times, he served as First Deputy Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, Executive Director of the Public Service Hall, Head of the Reform Coordination and Monitoring Department at the Ministry of Defence and also led the Supervision Department for the Public and Private Sectors at the State Inspector’s Service. Otar Chakhunashvili holds a Doctorate in Law.
