The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, along with Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, met with representatives of various airlines.

The main objective of the working meeting was to ensure the smooth operation of the summer navigation season at the country`s airports and to coordinate future plans. It was noted that the state remains a permanent partner of the airlines and is ready to provide maximum support to maintain stability in the sector and further increase connectivity.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the state and the private sector will work in a coordinated manner so that the industry is prepared to face any current or potential challenges.

The parties discussed global challenges that directly impact the stability of the aviation market, as well as ways to overcome them together.

The meeting also covered current aviation statistics. As the Minister noted, 2025 was a record-breaking year for Georgia`s aviation sector - during peak periods, more than 70 airlines operated across more than 120 air routes at Georgia`s airports, with approximately 760 weekly frequencies. It was emphasized that despite the situation in the region, the growth trend in the civil aviation sector continued into the first quarter of 2026, with both passenger traffic and the number of flights increasing compared to the same period of the previous year. It was noted that the Ministry of Economy, together with aviation authorities, is actively negotiating with the aviation authorities and airlines of various countries to establish new direct flights to Georgia - as a result, the Georgian aviation market is gradually returning to its former growth dynamics.

The meeting was attended by Givi Davitashvili, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia.
