The solemn ceremony of the enthronement of the 142nd Patriarch of Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Shio III, has begun at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Church hierarchs are already on site, people are gathered inside the cathedral and its courtyard.

A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated. Shio III will be vested in the patriarchal phelonion. During the enthronement, he will be presented with the main symbols of the Patriarch – the Sceptre, the Mitre, and the Panagia.

The President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, the Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, and representatives of the executive and legislative branches have arrived at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
