Customs officers of the Customs Checkpoint “Sarpi” of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, together with the employees of the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have arrested a Turkish citizen on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing, and importing large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances into Georgia.
Law enforcement officers conducted a personal search of the suspect at the Sarpi customs checkpoint and seized various types of narcotic substances in large and especially large quantities as evidence, including pregabalin and cocaine.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is conducting an investigation under Articles 260, 261, 262, and 263 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, offenses punishable by up to 12 years of imprisonment.
