Officers of Mestia Police Division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 1 person on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.

As a result of a search conducted by law enforcement officers, an automatic firearm, a pistol, clamps, a hand grenade, and 212 cartridges for various models of firearms were seized from the storage building and a special hiding place in the yard of the defendant’s house.

The investigation is underway under Part III of Article 236 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 6 years.
