Review of the 3-Month Execution of Georgia`s 2026 State Budget Heard at the Joint Committee sitting

At the joint sitting, the Economic Policy, and the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committees heard a review of the execution of Georgia`s 2026 State Budget for the first three months of the year, introduced by First Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze, who briefed committee members on the main macroeconomic parameters for January–March 2026 and focused on the implementation of state budget appropriations.

According to him, during the first quarter of 2026, the Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry utilized more than GEL 99 million, while the Environmental Protection and Agriculture Ministry utilized GEL 152 million.

The presenter noted that the 2026 budget had been planned based on a projected 5% economic growth rate; however, actual growth during the first quarter exceeded expectations.

In particular, average real GDP growth in the first quarter amounted to 9.1%. Real GDP growth stood at 7.9% in January, 8.8% in February, and 10.7% in March. As for inflation, annual inflation in March 2026 stood at 4.3%, while the average annual inflation rate was 4.4%.

Giorgi Kakauridze also focused on foreign trade and tourism indicators, noting that the number of tourist visitors exceeded 997,000 during the first quarter of the current year. According to his information, the European Union was Georgia`s largest trading partner in the first quarter of the year, accounting for 21.4% of total trade turnover.
