The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze took part in the Second International Migration Review Forum, which was held in New York, at the United Nations Headquarters.

Within the framework of the event, a multilateral interactive dialogue took place in round table formats, and a plenary session was also held, where representatives of international organizations and member states reviewed the progress achieved regarding the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, while delivering a speech at the round table format discussion, focused attention on the asylum legislation operating in Georgia and the legislative changes implemented in the recent period.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that one of the priority directions of the Ministry is the fight against illegal migration and noted that, through the implemented legislative changes, the Law of Georgia on International Protection was refined and procedures for expulsion from the country were tightened. Aleksandre Darakhvelidze also spoke about the successful experience of the Georgian side in the field of readmission and the progress achieved in this direction.

The International Migration Review Forum represents the main intergovernmental global platform where member states share information and discuss achieved progress regarding the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

The Georgian delegation in New York, which is composed of representatives of various state agencies, is headed by the Deputy Minister of Justice - Giorgi Dgebuadze.
