The Health Care and Social Services Municipal Department of Tbilisi City Hall start financing lung cancer screening from today, May 1.
Active tobacco users aged 45 to 75 registered in the capital or citizens who have quit smoking in the last 15 years will have the opportunity to undergo the procedure free of charge.
As part of the screening, a low-dose computed tomography examination will be performed, which will be read independently by two radiologists.
In case of a different assessment, a conference will be held with the involvement of a third radiologist. To be included in the lung cancer screening program, Tbilisi City Hall has selected leading clinics that meet the requirements of specialists with the best experience and the necessary material and technical base. At this stage, the program will be served by 16 medical institutions located in different geographical areas of Tbilisi.
