Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia [NBG], accompanied by the Bank’s Vice Presidents, is to attend the International Monetary Fund [IMF] and World Bank Spring Meetings in the United States.

The delegation includes Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Deputy Finance Ministers Giorgi Kakauridze and Ekaterine Guntsadze, as well as NBG Vice Presidents Ekaterine Mikabadze, Ekaterine Galdava, and Nino Jeladze.

During the visit, Natia Turnava is scheduled to hold meetings with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Jihad Azour, and IMF Executive Directors for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg constituency, Jeroen Clicq and Marnix van Rij.

The NBG President and the Finance Minister will also meet with investors from the American investment firms J.P. Morgan and Bank of America, to whom they will present Georgia’s investment potential.

As part of the visit, Natia Turnava will participate in a Central Bank Governors’ roundtable, the theme of which this year is the role of central banks in the post-modern era.

She will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, during which she will explore prospects for future cooperation between the two countries’ central banks. Besides, the NBG’s Vice-Presidents will conduct high-level meetings on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings.

The annual Spring Meetings bring together IMF and World Bank Governors and Alternate Governors, alongside representatives of the financial sectors of nearly every country in the world, including central bank governors, finance ministers, and private sector executives. Participants discuss issues of global significance, among them the outlook for the world economy, poverty reduction, economic development, financial stability, cybersecurity, and financial technology.
