Law enforcement officers seized up to 6 kg of drugs - 2 people arrested

Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance have foiled an attempt to distribute a particularly large amount of narcotics in the country.

The police have arrested 2 people on charges of attempting to illegally purchase and store a particularly large amount of narcotics and facilitating their sale. As part of the operational measures taken to expose the detainees, law enforcement officers carried out an undercover delivery of parcels sent to them from various countries, which confirmed that the accused persons were attempting to illegally purchase and store various types of narcotics.

The police seized various types of drugs in particularly large quantities from the packages, as well as from the defendants` residences, as evidence, including: up to 6 kg of mephedrone, 10 MDMA pills, up to 200 grams of hashish, 3 Subotex pills and a piece of a pill.

As a result of the investigative actions carried out, the police also seized materials necessary for packaging the drugs. The investigation is being conducted under Articles 19-260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
