The Agriculture Committee held an off-site sitting at the National Food Agency, where it heard the Agency’s activity report for 2025–2026.

The report was presented by the Head of the National Food Agency, Giorgi Iakobashvili. He briefed committee members on the Agency’s main areas of activity and spoke about the measures implemented in the fields of food safety, veterinary services, and plant protection.

The reporter placed particular emphasis on infrastructure projects.

As he noted, in 2026, the Agency intensified control over unregistered enterprises. As a result of inspections conducted across the country, the Agency’s inspectors identified 105 unregistered facilities, including dairy processing enterprises, livestock and poultry slaughterhouses, food establishments, as well as pesticide and agrochemical shops.

According to the Head of the Agency, the process of digitalization of the Agency’s services is actively underway.

The off-site committee sitting was attended by the Environmental Protection and Agriculture Minister, Davit Songhulashvili, and Deputy Minister Lasha Avaliani.

The Chair of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Gela Samkharauli, positively assessed the Agency’s activities. The Committee took note of the report.
