Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission [GNERC] has provided additional clarifications regarding the five-tetri increase in consumer electricity tariffs.

According to David Narmania, the Government will continue to assist the population vulnerable to tariff changes with their electricity bills.

“For several years, the Government has been subsidizing vulnerable consumers - families with a social rating score below 70,000. The Government assists this category of consumers in paying their electricity bills. Based on the information I have, even with the tariff increase, the Government’s utility subsidization will continue”, - said David Narmania.
