Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II has been brought to the Sioni Cathedral

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, has been conveyed to the Sioni Cathedral.

According to the Patriarch`s wish, the Sioni Cathedral will be his final resting place, prepared in the northern part of the temple, where the nation`s greatest relics - the Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos and the Cross of Saint Nino - are enshrined.

During the burial of the Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, only clergy will be present inside the Sioni Cathedral.
