There come moments in the life of a nation when society, the people, are united by a great ordeal or a great joy, said the Founder / Honorary Chairman of the "Georgian Dream", Bidzina Ivanishvili, while speaking at the funeral ceremony of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.

"Today, such a moment stands in the life of our country - millions of Georgians face a great ordeal in silence, and it is in this deafening silence, which is heard loudest now, that every child of this country feels in its entirety how immense the loss you leave behind is...

In this silence, we bid farewell to the era that bore your name.

Despite the great pain, we are a fortunate people, for we have been honored to be called the spiritual children of His Holiness and Beatitude, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II - children of a mentor who dedicated his entire life, as well as his passing, to clenching his flock - the Georgian people - into a single fist and uniting them.

Your Holiness and Beatitude - thank you very much for the kindness, wisdom, and love... Even now, as then, a "great era has ended"", - said Bidzina Ivanishvili.
