Ban on importing vehicles older than 6 years will be replaced by a corresponding increased excise duty rate - Prime Minister

By government decision, the regulation on the import of vehicles older than six years has been revised. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“Instead of a ban on the import of vehicles older than six years, a customs tariff of 4.5 GEL will be imposed, meaning the excise duty will be set at 4.5 GEL per cubic centimeter. Accordingly, the import ban will be replaced by an increased excise rate.

This decision is very important for environmental protection, improving ecology and air quality, and it was precisely these considerations that motivated the government"s decision. We introduced certain adjustments to the original measure, taking into account the interests of relevant private sector actors and our citizens, a matter that was widely discussed in society”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
