During his visit to Washington, Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, met with Congressman Robert Aderholt [a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a fellow delegate to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly].
"We discussed the state of relations between Georgia and the US, as well as our readiness to strengthen and improve these ties.
The Congressman was particularly interested in the situation in the occupied territories. He was keen to understand the issues surrounding the occupation, what is happening in the occupied regions, and we provided him with detailed information on this matter, including the threats Georgia faces. We also discussed Georgia`s vital role in transit and connectivity, and the strategic importance of this for our country.
We agreed that, as representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, we will actively collaborate in this area. Additionally, the Congressman is known for his interest in protecting children`s rights, and we proposed that the Georgian Parliament and the US Congress work together on these issues", - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
