We received positive messages at official meetings in the US, first of all, there is a readiness not only to renew strategic relations, but also to start from a completely new page - Lashkhi

Our parliamentary delegation received highly significant and positive messages during official meetings held in the US Senate, Congress, and at various research and analytical institutions. Such a statement Mariam Lashkhi, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, speaking during the delegation`s visit to Washington.

"There is a clear willingness and readiness for strategic relations not merely to be renewed, but to begin on an entirely new page, oriented towards tangible results and directly reflective of the well-being of our two nations. This cooperation would manifest in the deepening of economic ties, in direct American investment, and, most crucially, in the protection of our country`s sovereign rights and the establishment of a partnership grounded in mutual respect.

The outlook is entirely different from what we encountered in meetings with the previous administration. Not only have the attitudes and dispositions changed, but so too, and this above all, has the respect underpinning our renewed relationship", - said Mariam Lashkhi.

As she noted, the Summit of Sovereign Nations [SSN], which opened that same day, would mark a pivotal turning point in resetting bilateral relations.

"As you may be aware, Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna invited the Georgian delegation not merely as observers, but as active participants in the conference, a significant gesture on the part of the US. Georgia will have the opportunity to give voice to the Georgian people at the SSN, to defend national interests, and to share with those present the experience of how our country has been compelled to safeguard both its sovereignty and its peace under considerable geopolitical pressure.

The panels will address freedom of speech and energy policy. The importance of Georgia`s role in the Middle Corridor will be underscored. Georgia will once again affirm its interests, grounded both in socio-economic prosperity and, above all, in the sovereignty of our nation", - added the MP.
