Peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, along with constructive relations among Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, would play a decisive role in the development of the Middle Corridor, which is a historic opportunity for the region. Such a statement in the interview with Imedi TV made today the Georgian Foreign Minister.

“The context we have in the current situation is that supply chains are changing, and the geopolitical landscape is shifting. In circumstances where the Middle Corridor has gained the importance it has acquired, particularly after the Russia-Ukraine conflict and amid developments in the Middle East, it is impossible to ignore this or fail to recognise it. Added to this is the development that the decades-long conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has ended, and both sides are now trying to find ways to cooperate, including in the context of regional projects.

This is a new reality for us and represents new opportunities for the region.

The Middle Corridor is not merely an economic route but also carried political significance.

Accordingly, we can say that, on the one hand, peace and stability in the region, and on the other hand, the relations that exist between neighbors - in this case between Georgia and Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, and now also Azerbaijan and Armenia - will certainly play a decisive role in the development of the Middle Corridor.

We can truly say that this is a historic opportunity for our region to become a major corridor and a significant geopolitical hub, not only in terms of connectivity. When we speak about the economy and economic projects, of course, politics stands behind them, and they carry clear political significance as well”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.
