"Against this backdrop, the shouts of joy expressed by stateless people, who lack state-oriented thinking and a sense of nationhood, regarding this foreign attack on media freedom are exceptionally comical and tragic. This reaction is the best illustration of the value system of the people we are dealing with.

The public saw that as soon as the radical opposition received one-time assistance from their foreign patrons through the sanctioning of Imedi and POSTV, they began asserting the absurdity - using a unified “message box” - that the government and the free Georgian media were supposedly on the verge of collapse.

This is another illustration and, at the same time, the tragedy of these people: in their view, the fate of Georgia should be decided not by the Georgian people, but by an external force, because they have zero chance and hope of receiving support from our country`s population.

By external force, of course, we mean the force that gives tasks to the local agency, while simultaneously convincing them that if they fulfill these tasks unconditionally, it will help them come to power - provided they work not for Georgia, but for their [foreign] interests. Whether we call these forces the "Deep State", the "Global War Party", or oligarchic families, it is a fact that such an informal power is entrenched within the European bureaucracy", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
