The National Environmental Agency of Georgia has issued a warning regarding the expected weather conditions over the coming days.

Forecasters predict intermittent rain [heavy in some areas] across Georgia from February 26 to March 1. Winds are expected to strengthen, reaching storm force 4-5 at the sea.

In the high mountainous regions, snow, heavy in certain areas, along with fog, blizzards, and avalanche risk, is anticipated.

On February 27-28, precipitation will mainly affect the eastern plains of Georgia, predominantly as snow. Due to heavy snowfall, blizzards, poor visibility, loose ice, and avalanche danger, traffic restrictions may be imposed on certain roads.

The heavy rainfall is also likely to cause a significant rise in water levels in Georgian rivers, flash floods on smaller rivers, and the initiation or activation of landslides and mudslides in hilly and mountainous areas [danger level-medium].
